Chances are if you are reading this it is likely that you already know what PPP is. Pearly Penile Papules (or Hirsuties Papillaris Genitalisas), are clusters of small, white, dome shaped “bumps” that afflict the glans (head) of the penis. Although terrifying to some when they discover they have them, they are in fact benign little pieces of flesh similar to a skin tag. They are not associated with any STD and in fact are not contagious or transferable to a sexual partner such as a virus would be. Their cause being unknown, they are merely an embarrassing nuisance. But yes, there are methods to remove them.
And of course pearly penile papules can be quite embarrassing which would explain why so many young men are searching for Pearly penile papules removal methods.
A sebaceous gland however, is completely different. They are a microscopic gland that is located within the dermis (the middle layer of the three skin layers) along the hair follicle. The purpose of these glands is to excrete oil called sebum to help “condition” and waterproof the skin and hair. Without sebum your skin would dry and crack.
If you have ever been camping and not washed your hair for two or three days you likely noticed how oily your hair had become. This is from the sebum secreted by the sebaceous glands. Ear wax is composed entirely from sebum.
A sebaceous gland can become clogged by foreign bodies such as dirt and develop a cyst known as a sebaceous cyst. These are basically pimples, although some may go unnoticed and develop into a very large pustule that is not only painful, but can become infected. There is no reason to remove a sebaceous gland, and it is unlikely you could remove all of them on your body as there are millions. But a sebaceous cyst can and should be removed. A small one can be treated basically as a pimple, a hot, moist compress, and maybe a little squeeze to remove the pus, clean the area and it should heal. More serious cysts should be examined by a doctor.
As for removing a PPP, there are many home remedy methods, from utilizing the application of various oils or drying compounds to reduce or eliminate the penile papules, to using acidic herbs and substances such as lemon juice, Epsom salts, and apple cider vinegar.
One should NEVER try to scrape or cut pearly penile papules off at home as this could cause a serious infection and scarring.
Scarring of the tissue in that sensitive area is very undesirable as it typically causes the skin to lose elasticity. For very severe cases of penile papules you may want to visit a doctor and discuss surgical procedures offered such as CO2 laser removal.
Surgical PPP removal can be expensive
Having said that; laser treatment for getting rid of PPP is very expensive and unless you can prove that is having a detrimental psychological effect it is unlikely that the NHS or your medical insurance will pay for the procedure.

Another Pearly penile papules removal question
Question posted by Terry: How to get rid of Hirsuties papillaris genitalis around the tip of my penis?
Hey everyone I am a 18 years old and uncircumcised. I have something called Hirsuties papillaris genitalis around the bottom of the head of my penis. I think it is more commonly called pearly penile papules and they seem to be just under the rim of the head. Anyway I am finding that the PPP really bothers me now that I have a girlfriend.
We have just started going out together and she wants to have sex with me, I also want to have sex with her but I am really scarred of what she will think when she sees the penile papules. I have to try and make excuses so we don’t have sex. Sooner or later she is going to think I don’t fancy her and probably dump me if we don’t have sex.

Is there a pearly penile papules removal treatment that I can use at home that will get rid of the ppp quickly? I have already tried picking them off but they bleed and it hurts. Any ideas on how I can get rid of them?
I heard that I could get them lazered off but I think that is expensive isn’t it?
To be honest a lot of guys worry about pearly penile papules when they really don’t need too, most woman won’t even notice them. PPP is classed as a variation of normal which basically means that there are no medical pearly penile papules treatments as such. The treatments which are available range from CO2 laser vaporization which is perhaps the best known and quickest method. This is classed as a cosmetic procedure and the price depends on how many PPP you have as they target the papule individually; prices can range from $500-$5000. There are also a number of ways to get rid of pearly penile papules at home; we have covered quite a few throughout this website. You could also try this PPP removal method: PPP removal at home

Hi there O.J
Pearly penile papules are a real worry for guys of a certain age, not because they are a health concern or because they are contagious because they are neither. They are a worry because of what many of us think people’s perception of them is.
I would like to say most people know what they are so don’t worry; but the truth is most people don’t know what they are and in most cases they perceive them to be genital warts or herpes.
Regarding pearly penile papules removal
It’s also true that unless the papules are quite severe they may never be noticed. Regarding pearly penile papules removal; perhaps the best known method is CO2 laser vaporization of the papules. The price for this procedure can vary quite a bit depending on how many papules you have, this is because each papule has to be individually targeted. The average cost will be somewhere in the region of $3000.

Query by Jeff: Would carbon dioxide laser therapy be performed by a plastic surgeon?
I have a mild case of Hirsuties papillaris genitalis (more generally referred to as ‘pearly penile papules’, or PPP), and I am wanting to get a carbon dioxide laser remedy completed to correct the look. Would this process be carried out by a plastic surgeon or a diverse type of doctor? Thanks.
Could be a plastic surgeon. but a dermatologist would be able to perform the procedure. There are clinics which specialise and advertise the procedure. It might be wise to do a local search for clinics in your area.
